The winter steelhead run in this river is absolutely amazing. Fortunately the Nimpkish Resource Management Board is changing that and returns are increasing again.
When the rain comes it enables them to migrate up the river to spawn. Vancouver Island Steelhead rivers are some of the most unique around. Like with all our winter river fisheries it has to all do with timing and hitting it right, and that can be hard to do.

Steelhead season on the stamp generally runs July to February. These egg hunters have their noses down continually in search of their next tasty meal.
